Conference 2017

March 23-26 | Baltimore, MD

Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards

CONTINUING EDUCATION - CME/CE/NBCC
17.5 maximum hours offered.

This conference will highlight the inextricable link between mind and milieu and the complex relationships between our inner and outer worlds. These perspectives are at the core of social work's emphasis on “person in environment” and the importance of relationship. We invite you to Baltimore, the birthplace of American psychoanalysis and home to many prominent thinkers who embraced the significance of the worlds within and beyond the consulting room. Join us as we explore and expand our contemporary understanding of the mind/milieu dynamic.

Baltimore Sun article -- “The sublime psychology of Baltimore”

Radio interview on WYPR 88.1FM about clinical social workers and contemporary psychoanalysis.

“Most mental-health care in the U.S. is delivered by social workers, more than psychiatrists and psychologists. As the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work gathers here this weekend, we talk to two therapists about Baltimore’s special spot in the development of psychoanalysis, the challenges for therapists and residents in a city suffused with trauma, and how that influences the approach social workers take in therapy.”

*** AAPCSW receives recognition by the Baltimore City Council ***

“On a historic evening when the Baltimore City Council passed landmark $15/hour minimum wage legislation and reaffirmed Baltimore's status as a Welcoming City, calling on ICE to adopt more humane tactics, we were honored to accept Councilmembers Mary Pat Clarke and Zeke Cohen and the Council's resolution and welcome of the AAPCSW to town this week and acknowledgement of Baltimore as the birthplace of psychoanalysis in America and social workers as providing the biggest percentage of mental health care services in the U.S.”

Zeke Cohen, Councilman of the First District of Baltimore, will greet us at the opening of the conference.

Meet us in Baltimore!
